The Final Hearing In The Supreme Court Will Be On February 24 In The Matter Of Giving Permanent Commission To Women Officers

The apex court has fixed the date of February 24 for the final hearing on the petition of women military officers regarding the non-implementation of the Supreme Court order granting permanent commission in the army. The Supreme Court last year ordered the central government to provide permanent commission to women officers in the army’s non-combat assistance units, similar to male officers. The petition sought to give directions to implement the order of the courtA bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and Justice MR Shah fixed the final hearing date. A petition has been filed by the female military officer through her lawyers Chitrangada and Archana Pathak Dave. In this, he has sought instructions to implement the earlier order of the apex court immediately. The petition said that as far as its procedural aspect is concerned, there is some ambiguity in which the army has not yet resolved.Government is not in favor of giving opportunity to candidates who have passed the prescribed age In another case, the Central Government on Tuesday told the Supreme Court that it was not in favor of giving the candidates another attempt in the Civil Services Preliminary Examination of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and those who have passed the prescribed age one more chance. The government said that doing so would discriminate against other candidates. In Monday’s hearing, the apex court had asked the government to consider giving such candidates a chance.
